TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #5, written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with art by Ben Bishop, Isaac Escorza, and Esau Escorza, promises a climactic showdown. IDW's official description teases:

"The second installment in the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its fiery and climactic conclusion! New York City erupts in all-out war, leaving no one safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno are all caught in the crossfire. Will they survive? Their fate rests in the hands of legendary writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz as this chapter of The Last Ronin concludes!"

Reflecting on the new generation of Turtles, Eastman shared in a 2024 interview with IGN: "We wanted to update the characters. There are two male and two female Turtles, and Tom and I worked to capture what teenagers might think, say, and do. There's a great mix of personalities, much like the original Turtles. They love their family, but they don't always like them. They argue, disagree, but when they need to work together, their family bond always unites them. That's the foundation of everything we do with the Turtles."
