The debut trailer for '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' has arrived, showing Ralph Fiennes as Dr. Kelson fighting to stay alive in the post-apocalyptic sequel to this year's '28 Years Later'.
Directed by Nia DaCosta with a screenplay by Alex Garland, 'The Bone Temple' features Cillian Murphy as an executive producer. According to Variety, the 'Oppenheimer' star will make a brief cameo as Jim from '28 Days Later' in this film before taking on a more substantial role in the third installment.
Without revealing spoilers for '28 Years Later', the trailer reveals several returning characters continuing from the... surprising conclusion of the previous film. Dr. Kelson seems to have found someone (or something?) that could alter everything.
Even greater changes are still to come.

Here is the official synopsis for '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple':
Expanding the universe first created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in '28 Years Later'—while dramatically reshaping it—Nia DaCosta directs '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple'. The epic story continues as Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) enters a startling new relationship with consequences that could reshape their world, while Spike's (Alfie Williams) confrontation with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) turns into an inescapable nightmare. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the primary danger—the inhumanity of the survivors proves stranger and more horrifying.
'28 Years Later' performed solidly at the box office, grossing $150.4 million worldwide. It also received favorable reviews. IGN's review of '28 Years Later' awarded it a 9/10, stating: "'28 Years Later' remains as potent and timely an examination of societal conflict as the original, with Danny Boyle and Alex Garland masterfully playing on our emotions with brutal, deadly precision."
'28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' arrives in theaters on January 16, 2026.
