Ubisoft responds to Assassin's Creed Shadows leak

On February 24, we reported that Assassin’s Creed Shadows had surfaced online prematurely, with several unauthorized streams appearing nearly a month before its March 20 launch.

Throughout the weekend, as noted by the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, since-deleted posts showcased physical copies being sold early, while multiple unauthorized playthroughs emerged on platforms like Twitch.

Ubisoft has now addressed the leak, acknowledging the issue in a statement on the Assassin's Creed subreddit and urging players to refrain from sharing spoilers.

"We're aware that players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of schedule. Our team is still refining the game with final updates, and leaked footage doesn't reflect the polished experience we're preparing for launch."

"We understand leaks can dampen excitement," Ubisoft continued. "We ask our community to help preserve the experience for others by avoiding spoilers. We appreciate those already taking steps to shield fellow fans."

"Stay vigilant against spoilers, and keep watching our official channels—we have exciting announcements coming soon! March 20 is just around the corner!"

The leaks mark another setback for Ubisoft's flagship franchise. The studio previously apologized for using a historical group's flag without clearance, followed by criticism over inaccurate depictions of Japan in Shadows.

Originally slated for November, Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed first to February 14 before settling on its final March 20 debut. The embattled publisher badly needs a commercial success after disappointing sales of recent titles and mounting investor pressure.
