The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Rune Slayer

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, Rune Slayer has arrived, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. Fear not, this guide will help you conquer your Rune Slayer journey.

Here are some crucial tips we wish we'd known starting out:

Don't Randomly Attack Other Players

Initially, Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP worried us. However, death isn't the end; you simply respawn with no item loss, even after player kills. The catch? Attacking players earns you a bounty. Higher bounties mean greater item loss upon your death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-imposed. Unless you relish a high-stakes challenge (or have backup!), avoid unprovoked player attacks.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Thankfully, crafting bags expands your capacity. The early-game Cotton Bag adds 10 slots. Find Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (beware of tougher mobs in the south). Craft these bags ASAP!

Your Pets Don't Actually Die

Contrary to initial impressions, your pets don't perish permanently. After reaching zero health, they're unavailable for 5 minutes (check with the 'T' key). Simply use 'T' again after the cooldown to resummon. Bonus: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the Stable Master (you have one free slot).

Accept Every Quest

Rune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, mostly the familiar "kill X" variety. To streamline your progress, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.

Craft Everything at Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessary items, but don't hesitate to experiment with spare materials. Initial crafting often unlocks new, superior recipes. We unlocked enhanced Iron Armor after smelting our first Iron Ore. Don't be afraid to experiment!

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies demand teamwork. Guilds are the easiest way to find groups for challenging encounters. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find a guild and tackle those powerful foes together.
