Diagnose and clear fault codes while monitoring DPF status in BMW vehicles

Bimmer-Tool enables reading & clearing fault codes, initiating DPF regeneration, accessing live engine data, and performing comprehensive diagnostics for BMW models.

For pre-2008 model year vehicles, functionality may be limited - we recommend using a K+DCan USB cable connection. Wireless ELM adapter connections with older models may encounter compatibility issues or feature restrictions.

Note: Reliable OBD adapter required. Recommended connections include K+DCan cable, ENET adapter (for F/G series), or these Bluetooth adapters:

- Vgate vLinker MC/FS/BM/FD https://www.vgatemall.com/products/

- UniCarScan UCSI-2000/USCI-2100: Configure to D-Can mode: MODE2 https://www.wgsoft.de/shop/obd-2-komplettsysteme/unicarscan/114/unicarscan-ucsi-2000-diagnoseadapter

https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/unicarscan-ucsi-2000-bluetooth-obd2-adapter

- Carista https://caristaapp.com/adapter

- Veepeak OBDCheck BLE https://www.veepeak.com/product/obdcheck-ble

Key features include:

- Monitoring DPF regeneration status with detailed reporting

- Initiating DPF regeneration cycles

- Resetting DPF adaptation values post-filter replacement

- Reading exhaust backpressure data

- Analyzing injector calibration values

- Comparing actual vs expected metrics for air mass, manifold pressure, and fuel pressure

- Exporting diagnostic logs to CSV format

- Registering battery replacements (without parameter changes)

- Resetting short-circuit blocked lamp circuits

- Resetting service intervals for oil/brakes**

Compatible OBD adapters:

- K+D-Can USB: Most reliable option (requires USB-OTG cable)

- ENET cable/WiFi Adapter: Preferred for F & G series (needs USB-C to Ethernet adapter)

- ELM327 Bluetooth: Slower than USB (only authentic ELM327/PIC18 adapters work; limited compatibility with older engines)

- ELM327 WiFi: Requires disabling mobile data; connection stability may vary

For support inquiries, please email using the address listed at page bottom.

Getting started:

1) Plug adapter into OBD II port

2) Switch ignition to ON position

3) Establish device connection:

* USB: Connect via OTG cable - select Bimmer-Tool when prompted

* Bluetooth: Pair adapter (default PIN: 0000/1234) in device settings

* WiFi: Disable mobile data, connect to adapter's network

4) Launch app > Navigate to 'Car' > Select model/year

5) Access 'Connection' > Configure adapter type and protocol

6) Press 'Connect'

**Compatibility notes:

Pre-2008 models (including e46/e39/e83/e53) require K+DCan cable and support only engine ECU diagnostics. Wireless ELM adapter connections may fail.

Troubleshooting:

- Intermittent 'No response' errors (pre-2007 models with BT/WiFi): Try enabling ATWM in advanced settings

- Persistent connection failures: Close all diagnostic apps (via app manager) or reboot device before retrying

Permission requirements:

- Storage: USB adapter compatibility

- Media access: CSV file generation

- Bluetooth pairing: Wireless adapter support

- Network access: WiFi functionality

- Location services: Bluetooth protocol requires (not utilized)
