Annapurna Interactive Games Remain Stable Amidst Staff Departure

Annapurna Interactive's mass resignation leaves the future of many games uncertain, yet some projects, notably Control 2 and Wanderstop, appear unaffected.

• Control 2: Remedy Entertainment, self-publishing Control 2, confirmed its development and release remain on track. Their agreement is with Annapurna Pictures, not Annapurna Interactive.

• Wanderstop: Davey Wreden (creator of The Stanley Parable) and Team Ivy Road have both publicly stated development continues without interruption.

Other titles, such as Matt Newell's Lushfoil Photography Sim, also seem unaffected, though the team acknowledges the loss of the Annapurna Interactive team. Beethoven & Dinosaur similarly confirmed their project, Mixtape, continues.

Conversely, the status of several other games remains unclear. Developers of titles like Silent Hill: Downfall, Morsels, The Lost Wild, and Bounty Star have yet to provide updates. The future of Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, an internally developed Annapurna Interactive title, is also unknown.

Annapurna's Response:

Annapurna Pictures CEO Megan Ellison has assured continued support for its developer and publishing partners. The mass resignation stemmed from disagreements over the studio's future direction, following the departure of former president Nathan Gary. The entire 25-person team resigned after failed negotiations for the studio's independence.

While the situation is evolving, many developers remain optimistic about their projects' futures, despite the significant upheaval at Annapurna Interactive. The long-term impact, however, remains to be seen.
