MachineGames, the studio behind the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm dogs in the game. This decision reflects a commitment to family-friendly gameplay, a departure from the studio's previous, more violent titles.
A Dog-Loving Indiana Jones
While many games feature animal violence, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes a different approach. Creative Director Jens Andersson explained to IGN, "Indiana Jones is a dog person." Although the game features intense action sequences against human enemies, any canine encounters will be non-lethal. Dogs might be present as obstacles, but players will only deter them, not harm them. Andersson emphasized the game's family-friendly nature, stating that avoiding animal harm is a key part of achieving this goal.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release slated for Spring 2025. Set in 1937, the game follows Indy's pursuit of stolen artifacts, taking him on a globe-trotting adventure from the Vatican to Egyptian pyramids and even submerged temples. His trusty whip will be used for both traversal and combat against human foes, but thankfully, not against our four-legged friends.
