Insider: GTA 6 special edition and additional GTA Online payments can cost up to $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, spearheaded the trend of $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns exist that they might increase the price further for Grand Theft Auto VI.

While a standard edition of GTA VI might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a price point of $80-$100, industry insiders suggest a potential premium edition priced between $100 and $150, offering early access.

According to Tez2, Rockstar/Take-Two already sell GTA Online and Red Dead Online separately. However, GTA VI will be the first title to launch with a separate online component, while the story mode will be bundled in a "complete package."

This necessitates factoring the online component's cost into the overall price. The question remains: how much will the online portion contribute to the base price, and what will be the cost of the story mode upgrade for those purchasing the standalone GTA VI Online?

By reducing the online version's price, Take-Two could attract players unable to afford the $70 or $80 game. This strategy is advantageous because those players could then upgrade to access the story mode. This creates another revenue stream, as some players might desire the story mode but lack the funds for the upgrade.

Take-Two could further capitalize on this by offering a subscription service similar to Game Pass, leveraging GTA+. Players who continue playing instead of saving for an upgrade will generate consistent revenue, providing Take-Two with a further advantage.
