Lords of the Fallen 2 Reveal Coming to Gamescom 2025

Marek Tyminski, CEO of Lords of the Fallen 2 developer CI Games, announced on Twitter (X) that the upcoming soulslike game will officially debut at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19. While the game's development has been confirmed for some time, this will be the first opportunity for fans to see the project in an official capacity.

The news was initially hinted at last week through a cryptic tweet by veteran games convention host Geoff Keighley. Fans rapidly speculated about several potential projects, with theories about a possible Bloodborne sequel gaining the most traction. Within 24 hours, Tyminski clarified that Lords of the Fallen 2 would be the title unveiled at Gamescom.

Alongside the reveal, the development team shared in their monthly "Lifting the Veil" behind-the-scenes series that they will host a tattoo studio at Gamescom. They explained the decision by drawing parallels between tattoos and soulslikes, noting shared themes of suffering, artistry, and commitment.

The teased project will serve as a direct sequel to 2023's Lords of the Fallen, which itself functioned as a soft reboot and follow-up to CI Games' 2014 release of the same name.

Lords of the Fallen Through the Years

The 2014 version of Lords of the Fallen is recognized as one of the first games outside FromSoftware to attempt the Soulsborne formula, contributing to the emergence of the soulslike genre. Despite this ambitious undertaking, the original received a lukewarm response, with players and critics delivering mixed reviews and average scores.

Fortunately, the IP's reboot proved significantly more successful, selling over one million copies within its first 10 days—a milestone the original failed to reach in its initial seven months. The 2023 title managed to overcome numerous technical issues at launch and now holds a respectable 75 rating on Metacritic, with some players describing it as "essential for soulslike enthusiasts."

We awarded Lords of the Fallen a strong score of 82/100. For our comprehensive analysis, click the button below to access the complete review.
