Marvel Rivals: Mastering Mister Fantastic, the Stretchy Strategist
Marvel Rivals offers a thrilling hero-shooter experience, boasting diverse characters and stunning visuals. As the game evolves, new heroes join the roster, and Season 1 introduces iconic Fantastic Four members, including Mister Fantastic.
Mister Fantastic is a unique dualist, excelling at both mobility and damage. His core gameplay revolves around grappling and repositioning himself – either to aid allies or devastate enemies. His impact on the meta remains to be seen, but his potential is undeniable.
A strong primary attack is crucial for any effective duelist. Mister Fantastic's "Stretch Punch" is a surprisingly versatile three-hit combo. The first two strikes utilize a single fist, while the final strike employs both. The extended reach allows for damage even when dragging the arm through enemies, effectively creating area-of-effect damage with each punch. This compares favorably to other heroes with multi-target attacks, such as Storm's Wind Blade.
Mister Fantastic's diverse abilities, best explored in the training room, build towards a powerful damage-boosting passive. Once fully charged, this passive becomes a significant threat.
His base health is 350, but strategic shield use enhances his survivability beyond typical duelists. "Elasticity," a meter visible near the crosshair, is key. Each basic attack generates 5 Elasticity; reaching 100 Elasticity is paramount. His 3-star difficulty rating signifies a character challenging for beginners but readily mastered by experienced players.
Mister Fantastic transforms into a rectangular shape, absorbing all incoming damage. Upon expiration, he unleashes the stored damage in the direction of the reticle.
This ability provides a shield, boosting health from 350 to 425. He pulls himself towards the target, dealing damage to enemies or granting a shield to allies, offering both offensive and defensive capabilities. Two charges allow for tactical use.
This versatile ability allows for grappling a target. Two options are presented: "Dash" (pulls Mister Fantastic towards the target without a shield) and "Impact" (pulls the grappled enemy towards Mister Fantastic, dealing additional damage). Grappling a second enemy allows for a powerful slam attack, damaging both. Unlike melee-focused characters like Wolverine, Mister Fantastic's reach makes him surprisingly versatile.
This ability heals Mister Fantastic for any lost health (no shield granted). This synergizes well with Invisible Woman, a Strategist character who complements the Fantastic Four team composition.
Each ability use builds Elasticity, increasing damage output. At maximum Elasticity, Mister Fantastic undergoes a Hulk-like transformation, significantly boosting damage and granting a substantial shield. The shield decays after the transformation ends, but the damage buff encourages maximizing its potential. Failing to deal damage causes Elasticity to decay.
Mister Fantastic leaps and crashes down, dealing area-of-effect damage, then bounces to repeat the attack. This is devastating against clustered enemies.
Mister Fantastic's damage mitigation and shield generation make him surprisingly tanky. His passive further amplifies this resilience.
Combining Flexible Elongation and Reflexive Rubber provides both shields for Mister Fantastic and his ally, while simultaneously allowing him to absorb enemy attacks before unleashing stored damage.
While Reflexive Rubber contributes to Elastic Strength, it can also be used strategically even without needing the passive boost, maximizing the inflated state's damage and objective presence. Stacking shields (e.g., from two Flexible Elongations) before inflating can result in a massive health pool, potentially one of the highest in the game.
