Path of Exile 2's Atlas offers four significant endgame encounters: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, drawing inspiration from the original Path of Exile's Ritual League, are a revived seasonal mechanic. This guide details initiating Ritual events, key mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss encounter (The King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.
The Atlas map displays endgame events with specific icons. Ritual Altars are marked by a red pentagram with a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen map node.
Maps with Rituals feature multiple Altars, each with a shared random modifier impacting enemy types and mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms or life-draining blood pools). Interact with an Altar to trigger a large enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.
'An Audience With The King,' a unique Ritual currency item, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness, home to the King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss. Use this item in your Atlas Realmgate. The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, valuable currencies, and Omen items.
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas map, enhances Ritual events. It offers nodes to reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates. The tree has a red design with eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the Pinnacle boss at increased difficulty.
Notable Delirium Passive | Effect | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Promised Devotion | 25% increased Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute, 50% faster Favour appearance at Altars | N/A |
From The Mists | 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals | N/A |
Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness, 10% damage; Tribute penalty removed for revived monsters | From The Mists |
Spreading Darkness | Always 4 Ritual Altars per map | N/A |
Between Two Worlds | Rituals always include a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute) | Spreading Darkness |
Ominous Portents | 25% faster monster waves; 50% increased chance for Omens in Favours | N/A |
He Approaches | 20% chance for Magic/Rare revived monsters; 50% chance for 'An Audience With The King' | Ominous Portents |
Tempting Offers | Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolling | N/A |
Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for better Omen and 'An Audience With The King' chances.
Completing Rituals grants Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock higher-tier Favours, including Rare gear and high-value currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.
Omens, exceptionally powerful items enhancing other currency items, are possible Favour rewards. They are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy. Omens are highly sought after for crafting and trading.
Beyond Tribute and Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event.
