Experience the nostalgic fun of classic couch co-op gaming with Minecraft! This guide shows you how to easily set up split-screen multiplayer on your Xbox One or other compatible consoles. Forget online lag and enjoy seamless local gameplay with friends.

Important Notes:

  • Minecraft split-screen is only available on consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch), not PC.
  • You'll need an HD (720p) compatible TV or monitor and a console that supports this resolution. HDMI connection is recommended for automatic resolution adjustment; VGA may require manual configuration.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

  1. Connect your console: Use an HDMI cable to connect your console to your TV.
  2. Launch Minecraft: Start Minecraft and create a new world or load an existing one. Crucially, disable the multiplayer option in the game settings.
  3. Configure your world: Choose difficulty, game mode, and other world settings.
  4. Start the game: Press the start button to begin.
  5. Add players: Once the game loads, use the controller's "Options" button (PlayStation) or "Start" button (Xbox) twice to add additional players.
  6. Log in: Each player will need to log into their respective Minecraft accounts.
  7. Enjoy! The screen will automatically split into sections (2-4 players).

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with online players, you can play a local split-screen game and then invite additional online players to join your session. Follow steps 1-4 above, but enable the multiplayer option before starting the game. Send invites to your online friends after the game begins.
