Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is releasing hotfix 4.1, directly addressing player concerns following the controversial Patch 4.0. The developers, Saber Interactive, have announced the establishment of public test servers for 2025 in response to significant negative feedback.
Patch 4.1, arriving October 24th, will undo the most impactful balance changes introduced in Patch 4.0. This decision follows a wave of negative player feedback and review bombing on Steam. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated, "We’ve been monitoring your feedback...and have decided to address your most pressing concerns." The introduction of public test servers, planned for early 2025, aims to prevent similar situations in the future.
The initial rationale behind Patch 4.0's nerfs was to increase the game's challenge, particularly at higher difficulty levels. However, the developers acknowledge that the changes negatively impacted lower difficulties.
Specifically, Patch 4.1 will revert Extremis enemy spawn rates on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties to pre-Patch 4.0 levels, while significantly reducing them on Ruthless. Ruthless difficulty will also see a 10% player armor increase, and bots will receive a 30% damage buff against bosses.
Furthermore, the hotfix significantly buffs Bolt weapons to address their underperformance across all difficulties. Hotfix 4.1 includes the following damage increases:
Grigorenko assures players that Saber Interactive will continue monitoring feedback post-Patch 4.1 to ensure Lethal difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding.
