Elden Ring Nightreign, a standalone cooperative spin-off from FromSoftware, launches May 30, 2025, priced at $40 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).
Before launch, a network test exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will run February 14-17, offering five three-hour sessions to evaluate online functionality.
Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test Session Times (PT/ET):
This test, described as a "preliminary verification," focuses on online system performance.
Set in a parallel universe to the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features three-player cooperative gameplay. Players, as Nightfarers, battle new threats across a dynamic map, culminating in a confrontation with the Nightlord. The game incorporates a three-day-and-night cycle that significantly alters gameplay.
Here's an overview:
Elden Ring Nightreign begins at the Roundtable Hold. Players choose from eight unique characters with distinct abilities and Ultimates. The ever-changing Limveld environment presents dynamic combat and exploration challenges, impacted by the Night’s Tide, which shrinks the playable area. Each night ends with a boss battle; victory unlocks greater challenges. The final night features a showdown with the Nightlord. Failure yields relics for character customization and upgrades. Each session is unique, offering varied enemies, rewards, and map layouts. Sites of Grace provide opportunities for leveling up. Successful runs grant lasting stat bonuses.
IGN's hands-on preview described Nightreign as "turbocharg[ing] the cautious dungeon crawls of Elden Ring into propulsive, slash ‘n’ dash speedruns."
