The Bloodmoon Island, situated in the northern expanse of Reaper's Coast, is enveloped in mystery and shrouded by the deadly Deathfog. The only bridge linking the island to the mainland lies in ruins, making traditional access seemingly unattainable. Venturing to Bloodmoon Island not only deepens the main narrative but also unlocks a myriad of side quests. Yet, the game offers scant guidance on navigating the Deathfog to reach the island, leaving players to scour Reaper's Coast for clues. Below are detailed methods to reach Bloodmoon Island and advance your story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Originally, Bloodmoon Island was connected to Reaper's Coast via a bridge located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the abodes of Jahan and Witch Alice. This bridge, now destroyed, is your starting point for reaching the island. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, casting Spirit Vision will illuminate the broken segments of the bridge, some of which are trapped, presenting a challenge to cross.

To navigate this spectral bridge, consider the following tools and skills:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the game's first act, these gloves enable teleportation without the need for the skill itself. Though time-consuming, you can teleport each party member across the bridge using these gloves.

  2. Translocation Skills: Abilities like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat offer teleportation capabilities crucial for crossing the broken bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills, hence the next method.

  3. Teleporter Pyramids: With four such pyramids in the game, you need two to cross the bridge. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once on the other side, the rest of the party can warp to the pyramid's location.

  4. Fast Travel: If a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and unlocks the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there, bypassing the need to cross the bridge.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

In addition to the bridge, parties including Fane can utilize a unique method to reach Bloodmoon Island. As an undead, Fane is immune to the Deathfog, making him the sole character capable of safely traversing it.

A pier northwest of Cloisterwood houses an undead ferryman who offers passage through the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive offer; all but Fane will perish during the journey. If Fane travels alone, he'll arrive safely, able to unlock the Bloodmoon Island waypoint for the rest of the party to fast travel.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

For parties without Fane wishing to use the ferry, the Teleporter Pyramids offer a solution. You'll need at least two pyramids:

  1. Unchain the party and equip a companion with a Teleporter Pyramid before they board the ferry.
  2. The companion will die upon arrival at Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. Use the second pyramid to teleport the rest of the party to the deceased companion.
  4. Revive the fallen companion with a resurrection spell or scroll.

Without Fane, taking the bridge remains the fastest route to Bloodmoon Island.

Exercise caution with the Undead Ferryman; attacking him can trigger a Deathfog spell, leading to instant death for those within its radius. If you dare to confront him, save your game beforehand. Defeating the ferryman rewards you with a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750XP.
