The Witcher 4 director confirms recent footage shows the same in-game model of Ciri after some fans speculated about visual changes.
Following CD Projekt's behind-the-scenes look at The Witcher 4's reveal trailer, eagle-eyed fans spotted two close-up sequences featuring Ciri's character model at 2:11 and 5:47 timestamps. These shots generated lively discussions about subtle facial differences compared to her appearance in the cinematic trailer.
Initial reactions praised the footage, with one community member noting: "This looks like the perfect slightly older version of Ciri. She looks fantastic!" However, game director Sebastian Kalemba clarified that no modifications were made to Ciri's model.
"What viewers are seeing is raw in-development footage without final cinematic lighting or animation polish," Kalemba explained. "These are natural variations that occur during game development as assets move between different production stages."

The Witcher 4 marks Ciri's debut as the main character following Geralt's trilogy conclusion. Executive Producer Małgorzata Mitręga explained: "Ciri was always the organic choice — her rich book origins and complex personality perfectly suit her new leading role."
Kalemba emphasized Ciri's narrative potential: "Her younger age offers fresh storytelling possibilities that Geralt's established character couldn't provide. We've planned this transition since Witcher 3's development."

Original Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle endorsed the creative decision: "Passing the torch to Ciri makes perfect sense narratively. I'm excited to see how CD Projekt expands her story."
The development team acknowledges potential fan adjustments but remains confident in their direction. Kalemba stated: "Every creative choice serves Ciri's rich potential — this isn't random chance but deliberate storytelling evolution."
