Elven Curse

This simple non-field RPG challenges you to escape a cursed forest. - Prologue - You're the village's best hunter, drawn to a national hunting tournament near the royal capital. Arriving for the opening ceremony, you camp overnight, only to awaken to an unsettling discovery: the forest is deserted. Fellow hunters, even the national guards overseeing the tournament, have vanished.

Initially cautious, you eventually venture forth, only to find yourself inexplicably back where you started. Your exceptional sense of direction is bafflingly useless. This uncanny situation—being perpetually lost—is the game's unsettling premise.

• What is the "Elven Curse"? -

This RPG, aided by a helpful quarter-elf, casts you as the hunter striving for forest escape. Gameplay is remarkably straightforward, employing a maximum of three buttons outside the main menu.

• Character Creation -

While character customization is limited, you can freely reroll your stats. Stat increases upon leveling are only visible on this screen, unavailable during gameplay. Losing all life force means game over, unless you possess at least two "talismans."

• Peddler Quarter-Elf "Foria" -

A young (or seemingly young) quarter-elf encountered in the forest. Despite his childlike appearance, he claims seniority and offers cryptic assistance, drawing upon the forest's ancient spirits to aid your escape.

• Scenario & Scene -

The prologue unfolds smoothly, reminiscent of a picture story. Foria's dialogue is cheerful, contrasting with the overall subdued, evocative atmosphere.

• Exploration Mode -

Progress through the forest involves exploring unexplored areas. Exploration success is influenced by "fog depth" and your character's stats. If your life force depletes, use poison or rare "talismans" to recover, or return to Foria.

• Beast Encounters & Hunter Battles -

Wild creatures, from wolves to surprisingly aggressive frogs and rabbits, inhabit the forest. Defeating them yields hides, tradeable with Foria. Unlike traditional RPGs, combat doesn't grant experience. The goal is escape, not conquest. Battles are entirely avoidable (though this requires luck or skillful gameplay). As a hunter, you use a bow and arrow. Maintaining distance allows safe attacks; closing the distance invites a one-sided assault. Choose between a risky withdrawal or a guaranteed escape using Foria's "flash" ball.

• Cloak & Layering System -

Using gathered materials, you craft a cloak enhancing your abilities. Up to three layers can be worn, cumulatively boosting stats. The cloak can even restore vitality, but it's susceptible to damage and eventual wear. The bow and arrow remain unchanged.

• Game Features -

This isn't just a game; it's an experience. It's a game of chance, skill, and strategy, emphasizing resource management (gathering, synthesis, alchemy), and the satisfying preparation before each stage. It's relaxing, allowing for progress even with casual play.

• Autosave -

The game autosaves, but not during battles. Save your progress manually via the base menu before closing the app.
