Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become Europe's answer to Naughty Dog. Inspired by the cinematic storytelling and high production values of Naughty Dog's Uncharted series, Remedy Entertainment, led by Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley, openly aims to achieve similar acclaim within the European gaming landscape.
Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, detailed how this aspiration shaped both Quantum Break and, significantly, Alan Wake 2. The game's cinematic presentation, stunning visuals, and gripping narrative are direct testaments to this influence. Alan Wake 2's success has firmly established Remedy's position as a leading European game studio.
Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of single-player cinematic experiences, exemplified by the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises (the latter being one of gaming's most decorated), serves as a clear benchmark.
Even over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates. These updates focus on enhancing gameplay across all platforms, with a key addition being a new "Balanced" graphics option for the PS5 Pro. This mode cleverly combines the strengths of the PS5 Pro's Performance and Quality modes.
Further refinements include minor adjustments to graphical settings to ensure a smoother framerate and reduced visual noise. Alongside the PS5 Pro enhancements, the update also addresses several minor bugs impacting gameplay, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
