Wuthering Waves: Elemental Powers Explained

In Wuthering Waves, elemental effects have been a core game mechanic since launch, offering character buffs and enemy resistances. Unlike games like Genshin Impact, elemental interactions haven't focused on complex reactions or team synergies. Instead, elements primarily enhance character performance and influence enemy vulnerabilities and immunities.

Version 2.0 significantly altered the elemental system, particularly with new Echo sets and character reworks. A key addition is the ability for characters to apply and benefit from Elemental Effects, creating more direct interactions beyond passive buffs and resistances. Here's a comprehensive guide to Elemental Effects in Wuthering Waves.

All Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs in Wuthering Waves

Elemental Effects existed since launch, primarily applied by enemies. Players may recall effects like Glacio (freezing), but all six elements have unique effects. Many function as damage-over-time (DoT) effects.

Each element inflicts a distinct status effect, impacting combat. These are applied through specific elemental attacks. Dodging removes stacks, so timely dodging can mitigate negative effects.

Elemental EffectEffect Description
Havoc BaneStacks periodically up to 2. At 2 stacks, all stacks are removed, dealing Havoc DMG and reapplying to nearby characters.
Glacio ChafeEach stack reduces movement speed, increasing debuff intensity. At 10 stacks, the resonator freezes; players can "Struggle" to hasten recovery.
Spectro FrazzleStacks automatically decrease, dealing Spectro DMG per stack. More stacks = more DMG over time.
Fusion BurstStacks to 10 (unless removed), exploding at max stacks for significant Fusion DMG.
Aero ErosionDeals Aero DMG periodically. Stacks don't deplete to deal DMG; more stacks = more DMG over time.
Electro FlareReduces ATK based on stacks: 1-4 stacks (-5%), 5-9 stacks (-7% and Magnetized effect), 10 stacks (-10%).

Elemental Effects in Wuthering Waves

While Wuthering Waves may increasingly integrate Elemental Effects via Resonators, Version 2.0 implementation remains niche, limited to specific Resonators, Echoes, and Echo sets:

Resonators That Can Apply Elemental Effects

Resonators Applying Elemental Effects

Currently, only Spectro Rover (post-Version 2.0 rework) applies Elemental Effects. Its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin applies 2 Spectro Frazzle stacks and a Shimmer effect, preventing stack decay, allowing sustained effect buildup.

Echoes and Echo Sets Related to Elemental Effects

Echoes and Echo Sets for Elemental Effects

Only one Echo set currently benefits from Elemental Effects, primarily aiding Spectro Rover:

  • Echo Set - Eternal Radiance: 2pc: +10% Spectro DMG. 5pc: Spectro Frazzle inflicts +20% Crit. Rate (15s); 10 stacks grant +15% Spectro DMG Bonus (15s).
  • Echo - Nightmare: Mourning Aix attacks deal 273.60% Spectro DMG. DMG vs. Spectro Frazzle-inflicted enemies increased by 100.00%. +12.00% Spectro DMG Bonus.
