IO Interactive has finally shared new details about their highly anticipated Project 007 game, featuring a fresh interpretation of the legendary spy, James Bond. Here's what we know so far about this ambitious title.

The creators behind the acclaimed Hitman series at IO Interactive are now focusing on gaming's most famous secret agent. Their upcoming Project 007 isn't just a single adventure - studio CEO Hakan Abrak recently revealed plans to establish a full trilogy, offering a new generation their own version of Bond.
Since its November 2020 announcement, speculation has grown about how IO Interactive will adapt their signature stealth gameplay to the Bond universe. During an October interview, Abrak shared that development is progressing exceptionally well, featuring a pre-007 version of Bond still earning his famous license to kill.
"We're creating an original story free from film constraints," Abrak explained. "This is about building a Bond experience specifically for gamers - one they can grow with over time." The studio's experience crafting immersive espionage gameplay through their Hitman series positions them well for this ambitious project.

Abrak noted this marks the studio's first venture with an external IP after decades of original development. "Bond represents both an incredible opportunity and responsibility. Our goal is to establish a definitive gaming interpretation that stands alongside the film legacy," he said, emphasizing their long-term vision for the franchise.
The studio chief envisions Project 007 as the foundation for an extended narrative. "This isn't a movie adaptation - we're creating an original origin story that could evolve into a trilogy," Abrak stated, drawing parallels to their successful Hitman series structure.

While specifics remain confidential, official materials confirm an original narrative showing Bond's early days before becoming 007. Though not tied to any film actor's portrayal, Abrak mentioned their interpretation will lean toward Daniel Craig's grittier tone rather than Roger Moore's lighter approach.

Exact gameplay mechanics remain undisclosed, though clues suggest a departure from Hitman's open-ended design toward more structured missions. Described as "the ultimate spycraft fantasy," the game will likely emphasize gadget use over Agent 47's lethal methods. Job listings hint at third-person perspective with advanced AI systems supporting dynamic mission approaches.

Though no launch date has been announced, Abrak expressed enthusiasm about the project's progress. "We're eager to share more when the time comes - there are exciting developments underway," he teased, suggesting official reveals may be coming soon.
