Dead by Daylight Devs Seek The Thing, Cujo

Dead by Daylight is welcoming Five Nights at Freddy's to its terrifying roster, yet developer Behaviour Interactive has an ambitious lineup of horror legends still on its wishlist.

In an exclusive interview with IGN, the creative minds behind this acclaimed asymmetrical horror game shared their long-term vision. While the studio continuously explores fresh Killer and Survivor additions, some team members harbor particularly passionate wishes for specific franchises.

"For two-and-a-half years, I've been determined to crack the code for integrating The Thing into Dead by Daylight," confessed one devoted designer.

Jason Guzzo, Killer Designer and horror expert, has previously introduced iconic villains like Chucky, Dracula, and Springtrap to the Entity's realm. Though every crossover excites Behaviour's community, Guzzo reveals John Carpenter's The Thing remains his holy grail collaboration.

"While upper management hasn't discussed this particular license, my personal dream—as a lifelong fan of the 1982 masterpiece—is undoubtedly The Thing," Guzzo admitted. "I've literally spent years strategizing how we might adapt its parasitic horror mechanics for our game."

Guzzo clarifies this passion project remains speculative, noting potential hurdles in translating The Thing's shape-shifting terror into balanced gameplay. Despite technical challenges, he vows to continue his "creative crusade" to one day realize this adaptation.

Creative Director Dave Richard reveals these dream-team discussions permeate Behaviour's culture. While classics like Pennywise naturally surface ("an absolute dream addition"), Richard envisions even more unconventional horror icons.

"We're constantly brainstorming which legendary horror figures could join our universe," Richard shared. "Honestly? I'd love to secure every major franchise eventually—we're building the ultimate horror hall of fame."

The team frequently debates both obvious candidates and unexpected possibilities that could redefine Dead by Daylight's gameplay.

"Certain suggestions start as jokes but spark serious design conversations," Richard noted. "Take Cujo or Christine—their unconventional nature actually makes them fascinating potential additions given our evolving game mechanics."

The rabid canine from Stephen King's Cujo or the murderous Plymouth Fury from Christine would certainly break new ground for a game traditionally featuring human slashers. As Dead by Daylight approaches its ninth anniversary with June's Five Nights at Freddy's crossover, fans can anticipate more boundary-pushing content.

Springtrap's arrival on June 17 marks another milestone, complete with a nightmarish pizzeria map. For deeper insights into the game's future, check out our comprehensive interview with Guzzo and Richard.
