A purported remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed by Virtuos Studio using Unreal Engine 5, has been detailed by MP1st. The information, reportedly sourced from an anonymous developer's portfolio, suggests a significant departure from the original. This isn't a simple remaster, but a complete reimagining.
The remake will reportedly overhaul core mechanics. Expect substantial changes to stamina management, stealth systems, combat (including blocking, inspired by Soulslike titles, and archery), damage feedback, and the user interface. The original's blocking system, deemed underwhelming, receives a major upgrade. Damage calculations have been reworked to incorporate visible impact reactions, and stamina is expected to be more intuitive. The UI and archery mechanics will also be modernized.
MP1st theorizes that the project, initially planned as a remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents), evolved into a full remake. While sources confirm the remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a possible release within the year.
