CD Projekt Red recently shared exciting details about The Witcher 4, revealing new regions and monsters in an interview with Gamertag Radio.
Following the Game Awards 2024, Witcher 4 game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Gosia Mitręga spoke with Gamertag Radio, confirming the introduction of fresh locations and terrifying beasts.
Ciri's journey will lead players to unexplored areas of the Continent. Kalemba identified the village shown in the reveal trailer as Stromford, a place where a chilling ritual involves the sacrifice of young girls to appease their "god."
This "god," revealed to be a monster named Bauk, draws inspiration from Serbian mythology. Kalemba described Bauk as a cunning and fearsome creature, promising a wealth of new monstrous encounters for players.
While eager to discuss these additions, Kalemba remained tight-lipped about specific details, promising a truly novel experience within the familiar setting of the Continent.
A subsequent Skill UP interview on December 15th confirmed that Witcher 4's map will be roughly the same size as The Witcher 3. Given Stromford's location in the far north, Ciri's adventures will extend beyond the territories explored by Geralt.
The Gamertag Radio interview also highlighted advancements in NPC design. Acknowledging the reuse of character models in The Witcher 3, Kalemba emphasized the increased diversity and depth in Witcher 4. Each NPC will have a unique life and story, impacting their interactions with Ciri and other characters, particularly within the close-knit community of Stromford.
CD Projekt Red is enhancing NPC visuals, behaviors, and facial expressions, aiming for a more immersive experience than ever before. While details are limited, this suggests richer NPC interactions and potentially even interactions between NPCs.
