Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before launch. This follows feedback from the initial open beta test, which revealed performance issues on PC.

Addressing Performance Concerns:
Capcom's German Twitter (X) account announced performance improvements, particularly for the PS5's Prioritize Framerate mode, which boosts fps at the expense of some visual detail. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, with a focus on lowering the recommended GPU requirements. The current minimum GPU requirements are NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super and AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in lowering these requirements would broaden the game's accessibility.

A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess their system's compatibility.

Open Beta Test Feedback:
The initial beta test (October/November 2024) highlighted several performance problems, including low-polygon character models and frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs. While some players found workarounds, these often compromised visual quality. Capcom acknowledged these issues, stating that improvements were made since the beta, including a fix for afterimage noise in certain environments when Frame Generation was enabled.

Upcoming Beta Test:
A second open beta test is scheduled for February 7-10 and 14-17, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, featuring Gypceros and a new monster. Whether the recent performance improvements will be included in this beta remains to be seen.

This renewed focus on optimization suggests Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with a significantly improved performance profile compared to the initial beta.
