Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds is likely a typo) compared to Monster Hunter: World have been addressed by Director Yuya Tokuda. Unlike World, where weapon designs largely retained a base form with variations based on monster materials, Rise's weapons boast unique designs.
Tokuda stated regarding the Hope series armor and weapons: "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Rise, each weapon has its own unique design.”
This directly contrasts with Monster Hunter: World, where many weapon lines, even at their highest upgrade levels, exhibited significant similarities. The image below showcases this similarity in World's final Aqua and Bone weapon sets, compared to their Pukei-Pukei and Jyuratodus counterparts respectively. These examples represent the most upgraded versions available at launch.
