It seems that *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet* is poised to offer players a significantly more expansive experience than what we've seen from the studio in the past. Inspired by the likes of *Elden Ring*, the game is set to embrace open-world exploration mechanics, promising a departure from the linear narratives of previous projects. The setting is a vast single planet where players will delve into the mysteries of a long-lost civilization and explore the tenets of a new religion, which plays a pivotal role in the unfolding story. While it's not yet clear how closely the game will align with traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the developers are keen on breaking away from the familiar and venturing into uncharted territory.

In a notable shift, *The Heretic Prophet* will be the studio's first solo adventure, where players take on the role of a solitary explorer. Neil Druckmann, a key figure in the project, emphasizes the studio's intent to evoke a profound sense of isolation within an unexplored universe, while simultaneously exploring deep themes of faith and religion. The narrative unfolds on the planet Sempiria, an alternate future setting that has been isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over six centuries. Here, players will follow the journey of bounty hunter Jordan Moon, who arrives on the planet as part of her latest contract.

Druckmann also reveals that the game's development has been influenced by classics such as *Half-Life 2* and *Monkey Island*. This suggests a move away from conventional guidance in games, leaning instead towards a narrative style that requires players to piece together the story from scattered clues and fragments. This approach could offer a refreshing and immersive experience for players.

*Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet* was unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, but a specific release date has yet to be announced. As we await further details, the anticipation for this innovative take on open-world gaming and storytelling continues to build.
